Bilingual Education

I know this may or may not have anything to do with literature, but Im an education major and I think Bilingual eduacation is important. Here is why. Maybe someone can give me some feedback and let me know why or why not they think it is important or not. It would help.

WHAT IS BILINGUAL EDUCATION?
Bilingual education is the presence of two languages in instruction for children whose native language is not English.

WHEN WAS IT DEVELOPED AND WHY?
IT was developed in 1968 by the Federal Government because services for limited-English proficient students were virtually non-existent.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF BEING BILINGUAL?
· Access to two cultures
· Access to more information and resources
· More job opportunities
· Communication
· Good social skill
WHY IS BILINGUAL EDUCATION IMPORTANT?
It is important because immigrants need to be able to communicate with their teachers. They need to understand their lesson and explanations.
